USLGE members match international producers with sources in the United States that offer genetics with superior credentials. The combined resources of USLGE members include most major species and breeds — resources that are unmatched by any other single organization.
USLGE members include a broad base of U.S. livestock organizations (dairy, beef, swine, horse, goat, and sheep) as well as embryo and semen industries, the livestock export sector, and State Departments of Agriculture.
USDA Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Alexis M. Taylor will lead Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Alexis M. Taylor will lead a USDA trade mission to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Vietnam, September 9–13, joined by representatives from 58 agribusinesses and organizations and nine State governments that represent the diversity of U.S. agriculture. While the trade mission takes place in Vietnam, it will also provide U.S. agribusinesses a gateway to the Southeast Asia region thanks to participation by potential customers from Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, and Thailand.
Vietnam and the rest of Southeast Asia hold immense opportunity for U.S. exporters, with rising consumer incomes, growing middle class populations, and favorable perceptions of U.S. food and agriculture. In 2023, the United States exported $3.1 billion of agricultural products to Vietnam.
Trade mission participants will connect with key importers for business-to-business meetings and learn about local and regional market conditions through detailed market briefings from USDA Foreign Agricultural Service staff, industry experts, and government contacts. USLGE and several of its members will be participating.

As of May 15, 2024, Turkiye’s Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry announced a ban on the importation of live cattle from the United States following confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) cases in some U.S. lactating dairy cows. The value of cattle exports from the U.S. to Türkiye in 2023 was $16 million, and 2024 was expected to be a record year for U.S. cattle exports to Turkiye, having already reached $13 million as of April. At the time of the market’s closure, there were 3 shipments planned from the United States valued at approximately $20 million.
